There is a belief out there in the world that nothing is sacred. That there is nothing that can be kept private, and if you have watched the world of celebrity these days you might start to believe that the statement is true. The fact of the matter is that as a public figure the Internet has made it impossible to keep your life private and what is even more so is that it is difficult for private citizens to keep their lives private either. Every text you send, picture you take, and video you record is part of the communications world and could wind up anywhere. Since you value your privacy it’s best to take every precaution possible in order to make sure you don’t end up one of the horror stories.

Remember Cameras Are Everywhere

It is unfortunate but the sad truth that there are a lot of cameras out there, and you need to minimize the damage by being careful to not be so public with any antics. Stay home if you want to have a cocktail and stay in a cab if you are drinking out on the town. You need to be the smartest you can when it comes to living in the digital age.

Trust No One

Unless they are a lifelong best friend or a parent, don’t assume anyone trustworthy. Every one out there is human and makes mistakes and does do stupid things, so minimizing who you might share a provocative picture or a secret with is entirely up to you but make sure that you understand that everyone is liable to put something where you don’t want it.

It’s not just about being smart. It’s about being on your best behavior and not doing things that will possibly shame you down the road.
