While the constitution is a document that some feel to be outdated, this document is one of the most important for American citizens. It is important that Americans know all of their constitutional rights, especially their First Amendment rights. There are a number of reasons why this is the case.
If You Don’t Use Them, You’ll lose them
If you are uneducated about your First Amendment rights, then you will lose them. The government would love more than anything for the people to be ignorant, so they can take more control and impose stiffer regulations. To prevent this from happening, exercise your First Amendment rights everywhere you possibly can. In order to do this, you must be educated about your First Amendment rights. This way, if you feel like you are being treated unfairly by any government worker or by anyone in the court system, you can use your rights and speak out about it. The last thing you want is for this country to become like the Soviet Union. And it can happen if people continue to be like sheep.
Pass Them On
Knowing your First Amendment rights will enable you to pass them onto your children. Schools are dummying down the curriculum and are not teaching as much of the Constitution as they used to. So your children are not ignorant about their rights and do not become victims of the government or the court system, then you have the responsibility to teach them their First Amendment rights. Teach them to speak out against injustice. Teach them that the government does not control everything and that we the people can oppose things and take back our freedom. Teach your children about what America really is. If you do not know your First Amendment rights, then you cannot do this effectively.
